multiple-frames is a variable defined in xdisp.c.

Documentation

Non-nil if more than one frame is visible on this display.

Minibuffer-only frames don't count, but iconified frames do. This variable is not guaranteed to be accurate except while processing frame-title-format and icon-title-format.

Probably introduced at or before Emacs version 19.29.
