abbrev-suggest is a customizable variable defined in abbrev.el.gz.

Documentation

Non-nil means suggest using abbrevs to save typing.

When abbrev mode is active and this option is non-nil, Emacs will suggest in the echo area to use an existing abbrev if doing so will save enough typing. See abbrev-suggest-hint-threshold for the definition of "enough typing".

This variable was added, or its default value changed, in Emacs 28.1.
