This variable is obsolete since 28.1; use tab-bar-format instead.

If non-nil, show the "New tab" button in the tab bar.
When this is nil, you can create new tabs with C-x t 2 (tab-new).
This variable was added, or its default value changed, in Emacs 27.1.
