footnote-section-tag is a customizable variable defined in footnote.el.gz.

Tag inserted at beginning of footnote section.

If you set this to the empty string, no tag is inserted and the value of footnote-section-tag-regexp is ignored. Customizing this variable has no effect on buffers already displaying footnotes.

This variable was added, or its default value changed, in Emacs 27.1.
