When enabled, the modeline contains revision information for the visited file.

When not, the revision in the modeline is for the repository working copy. nil is the much faster setting for large repositories.

This variable was added, or its default value changed, in Emacs 26.1.

Probably introduced at or before Emacs version 26.2.
