verilog-auto-star-save is a customizable variable defined in verilog-mode.el.gz.

Non-nil means save to disk SystemVerilog .* instance expansions.

A nil value indicates direct connections will be removed before saving. Only meaningful to those created due to verilog-auto-star-expand being set.

Instead of setting this, you may want to use /*AUTOINST*/, which will always be saved.
